The Ultralight Adaptable Night Vision Monocular (U.A.N.V.M.), known as the “Tanto,” is the cornerstone of Nocturn Industries’ adaptable series of night vision devices. It mounts via a standard PVS-14 J-arm and is designed for lightweight, minimalist operation. The monocular features a push-button on/off integrated into the battery cap, reducing both weight and footprint without compromising functionality.

A key feature of the Tanto is its compatibility with the proprietary Tanto Articulating Powered Bridge (T.A.P.B.) “Daisho”, allowing two monoculars to be combined into an articulating binocular system with minimal tools. The transformation is simple: remove the battery cap and battery, insert the bridge into the battery compartment, and tighten the rear clamp screws. The bridge supports single-battery operation for both tubes, incorporates built-in IPD stops similar to the U.A.N.V.B. “Katana,” and enables articulation for single or dual-eye use. The articulating design allows operators to enter and exit vehicles without restricting headspace and eliminates the need to stow pods upright or against the helmet when not in use.

Despite its lightweight construction, the Tanto is rugged and durable, exceeding MIL-STD-810H standards and passing NATO 1.5-meter drop tests onto concrete, ensuring reliability in demanding operational environments.
