Ultralight Night Vision Monocular - Ruggedized "Talon-R"
The UNVM-R Talon ruggedized is an ultralight and extremely durable CNC machined 7075-T6 Aluminum full featured monocular housing engineered to reduce weight, size, and drastically improve durability in comparison to the widely fielded PVS-14 while maintaining all the same features, optics compatibility, and more. The Talon ruggedized housing weighs 35% less than a standard single (115g) AA PVS-14 housing coming in at 73g in a CR123A configuration. The ruggedized monocular is ergonomic to use, designed around a single tactile control knob for all controls. The single control knob has a tactile press and hold for powering the device on/off and a detented rotation for gain adjustment. Double tapping the control knob will turn on the on-board IR Illuminator while also firing the in-view IR illuminator indicator notifying the user their IR Illuminator is firing, tapping once to turn off. Only while the IR Illuminator is firing if the control knob is rotated the user can adjust the brightness of their on-board IR Illuminator to their exact preferred brightness level needed at that time. Once the device has reached a low battery state the on-board in view low battery indicator will strobe notifying the user to switch batteries. The Talon supports existing standard EGAC MX-11769 image intensifier tubes with no modification required as well as 3 pad MX-11769 European style image intensifier tubes. It will also accept standard ¼-20 thread PVS-14 mounting J-arms and other accessories. The Talon ships with a CR123A cap standard, however AA and CR2 caps are available and can be purchased and swapped seamlessly while using the existing battery cap lanyard already attached to the monocular housing. The image tube pod is interchangeable between the Talon-R and Raptor-R binocular product lines. The UNVM-R Talon ruggedized is designed, machined, and assembled in the US.
For MIL/LE by special order requirement the UNVM-R Talon ruggedized can be equipped with an on-board highlight cutoff sensor and/or stowage shutoff.
