The Ultralight Articulating Night Vision Binocular (U.A.N.V.B.), known as the “Katana,” remains the lightest binocular on the market, weighing less than 15 ounces fully assembled while incorporating onboard power. Its articulating design allows for individual pod shut-off, enabling the user to operate one or both eyes while simultaneously using weapon-mounted, non-passive aiming systems. Engineered with a cutting-edge carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite, our injection molded material surpasses traditional polymer solutions and rivals 6061-T6 aluminum in tensile strength.
The low-profile design of the Katana makes mounting and dismounting vehicles easier when the device is stowed. The system features the patented Friction Lock Interpupillary Adjustment, allowing users to set the interpupillary distance once and maintain it without additional tools. It is powered onboard by a single CR123A battery, providing approximately 25 hours of continuous runtime, and includes a LEMO 2-pin port for connection to an external power pack, enabling extended operational duration.
Despite its lightweight construction, the Katana does not compromise on durability. It exceeds MIL-STD-810H standards and has been drop-tested beyond NATO and TOP specifications (6 feet to concrete in six different orientations on a single device), ensuring rugged performance in demanding operational environments.
