About the U.A.N.V.B.- O.C. "Samurai"
The Ultralight Articulating Night Vision Binocular – Out-board Control (U.A.N.V.B.-O.C.), known as the “Samurai,” is an articulating binocular system engineered with a cutting-edge carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite and equipped with a full suite of out-board controls via its patented proprietary control pack. Advanced polymer materials and manufacturing methods enable an ultra-lightweight yet robust design, including optimized single-piece pod geometry.
This variant of the Samurai system is the lightest full-feature 18mm goggle on the market, combining performance with minimal weight. By relocating power and user controls to the rear of the helmet, operators maintain situational awareness and positive weapon control while making adjustments. This design also distributes weight more efficiently across the head, reducing neck fatigue and enabling extended operational use.
The system includes manual gain control, individual pod stow shutoff, interpupillary distance (IPD) stops, user-adjustable pod tension, IR illuminator with indicator, and a low battery indicator. Multiple control pack options are available, including traditional analog controls or digital push-button interfaces, with flexible
power configurations supporting 2× CR123A or 4× AA batteries, delivering continuous runtimes of approximately 50+ or 60+ hours, respectively.
- High strength hybrid fiber reinforced injection molded polymer
- Manual gain control located on control pack
- Toolless IPD stops included
- External power port (LEMO 00B)
- User adjustable pod tension
- 100+ hours of battery life (4x CR123A)
